Braised pork rice, known as "Lu Rou Fan" in Chinese, is a well-loved traditional Taiwanese meal. It usually comprises succulent braised pork belly or ground pork served on a bed of steamed rice. The pork is simmered slowly in a blend of soy sauce, rice wine, garlic, and an array of spices, resulting in a tender and deeply flavorful dish.

  1. Cut the pork belly into small cubes and separate the fat and lean part.
  2. Sauté the pork with garlic and ginger.
  3. Stir fry pork with sugar, soy sauce and vegetarian mushroom oyster sauce.
  4. Braise the Pork for one hour.
  5. Rest over night and thicken up the sauce the next day.
